Kunzang Gatshal Foundation is located in the beautiful Catskill Mountains of upstate New York. We occasionally host public dharma events, and this page provides practical information for those planning to visit.
Please note: Kunzang Gatshal is not a public Dharma center. It is a private retreat land. With the exception of clearly listed public events, please respect this privacy. Thank you.

Transportation Options
Driving
Most visitors drive to Kunzang Gatshal. On-site parking is available during public events. We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before program start times.

Carpooling
For larger events, sangha members sometimes organize carpools from NYC and other cities.

Public Bus
Trailways Bus offers daily service from Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan to Delhi, NY and Oneonta, NY. Visit trailways.com for the most current schedules and to book tickets.

The Delhi bus stop is approximately 7 miles from KGF. You will need to arrange transportation via:

On-Site Accommodation
​Kunzang Gatshal has a small guesthouse that is typically reserved well in advance for members. During public events it is usually reserved for staff.
​
Local Accommodation
We recommend staying in nearby Delhi, NY or Oneonta, NY. Delhi is the closest town and is a 10 minute drive. Oneonta is a 25 minute drive, but has many more options for accommodations.

Camping
For certain events, camping on the land may be permitted. This will be clearly stated on the event page. Typically this is only for friends and family wishing to attend the completion day of the annual Krodhikali retreat and spend the night. If camping is available, guests must bring their own equipment (tent, sleeping bag, warm clothing, etc.). Basic facilities such as portable restrooms and potable water are typically provided.

The Catskill Mountains experience four distinct seasons with unpredictable weather patterns. ​

General Guidelines

Spring/Fall: Temperatures range from 40-70°F. Mornings and evenings can be quite cold.

Summer: Warm days (70-85°F) with cool nights.

Winter: Very Cold with a lot of snow. Temperatures often 10-30°F.
Note: Delhi is typically about 10°F cooler than NYC.

On-Site Facilities
Facilities & Accessibility​​

Cell Service & WiFi
Cell service is limited at Kunzang Gatshal (typically no signal or 1 bar on most carriers). There is a Guest WiFi network, but it may not be reliable or turned off during large events. SMS texts and phone calls usually work, but data-dependent apps may be slow or unreliable.

Restrooms
For events held at the Main House, indoor restrooms are available. For events held at the Tsokkhang Temple, the restroom is located outside about 500ft away. For events at the Lhakhang Temple, portable restrooms are located down the hill about 500ft away. Restrooms that are outside are a five minute walk, and require caution when walking up and down the hill.

Accessibility
The terrain includes a hill between the parking area and temple. For those who need assistance, shuttle service is typically provided during major events. Please contact us in advance if you have specific accessibility needs.

Food
Simple vegetarian meals are provided during multi-day programs and noted on event schedules.
