Gutor
Gutor is an intensive Vajrayana practice undertaken to purify negativities, repair broken vows, and remove obstacles accumulated over the past year. The practice, centered on a wrathful deity such as Vajrakilaya or Hayagriva, invokes the wrathful power of the deity to clear obstacles and create the causes for an auspicious, peaceful, and prosperous New Year for all sentient beings.
According to the Tibetan Buddhist lunisolar calendar, this occurs annually on the 29th "Dharma Protector" day of the 12th month, the second to last day of the lunar year. According to the Gregorian calendar, we will observe Gutor this year on February 16, 2026.
